Who Are We?

We specialise in tree inspection in relation to structural health, urban development & human safety. Trees form an essential part of a landscape and they are the backbone of our Singapore greenery. However, due to their enormous sizes, they need to be monitored regularly for any defects or decline in health.

Tree Inspection
Level 1 assessment – basic level inspection of large population of trees within a short time frame. A quick survey conducted to identify obvious defects such as dead, dying or diseased trees.

Level 2 assessment – visual inspection of individual trees within a reasonable time frame. More in-depth than level 1 with the use of basic tools such as mallet, probe or secateurs.

Level 3 assessment – advanced level inspection with the use of sophisticated equipment such as the Resistograph to detect any internal decay within sections of tree wood. 

Education

While we are largely the executor of the doctrine we learnt about trees, we also believe in imparting such knowledge to people. Thus, providing an online avenue where learning can be customised and disseminated is one of our goals. Learning is a lifelong investment and it is only through education that we can constantly refresh, upgrade and update ourselves.

Tree Management

Trees are not just part of a landscape. They should be treated like assets of an estate. Adequate tree management will ensure that the trees provide maximum benefits to the environment and people for a long period of time. 

Tree Inventory – Tree biodata provides useful information about the types of trees planted. The species and size of the trees provide an understanding of whether they are planted in the correct or optimal location. This information will also provide landscape manager / owner an informed decision factor whether the landscape should be revamped. In addition, tree inventory presents the baseline information when the landscape is being monitored and such information can be used as a historical data for future planning.

Tree Inspection / Assessment– As trees grow and mature, they often develop defects as a result of environmental or cultural factors. If these defects are left unnoticed, they can potentially be intensified and eventually cause significant damages to properties or personnel.

Tree Maintenance – Trees grown in urban setting require intervention. They cannot be treated like they are in the wild. Trees will grow and respond to environmental stimuli. Some responses such as a tree leaning away from a nearby building will require pruning to encourage correction of lean. This is just one example of intervention. Thus, a sound tree maintenance regime should be in place to manage trees of variable sizes.

Landscape succession – While trees growing in the wild can easily outlive human, this is often not the case when they are planted in urban setting. Their useful lifespan tends to be shortened due to cultural practices and microclimatic condition. As such, to maximise the benefits of trees in a landscape, there should be a program in place to plant young saplings as an effort to prepare them as the “successors” of the mature trees. This will then close up the gap duration when mature trees need to be removed and the landscape is left empty till replacement comes in.
